Leslie Maloney, President
Educator/Community Member, Term: 2020-2023
Leslie Maloney has been an educator for over thirty years. She has taught extensively in the fields of sociology, psychology and history and has built successful life enrichment and educational programs at the high school, college and community levels. She loves to have discussions and conversations that broaden perspectives and deepen understanding of ourselves and each other. This is evident in the books she has published - Mermaid Meg and the Magic Lagoon and Things to Remember When You Fly From the Nest. She currently teaches at Eastern Florida State College and serves on several community boards that promote the environment and education. She is a proud mom of two and lives with her husband, Dan, in Melbourne Beach. Leslie has been a Board member since 2014
Andy Ziegler, Vice President
Community Member, Term: 2020-2023
Mr. Ziegler has a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and was elected to the Brevard County School Board in 2008 and served for 10 years. He is a Palm Bay Rotarian of 30 years and has held board positions including President in 1997. His primary career expertise is Network Specialist. Mr. Ziegler is a current member of numerous Boards of Directors including the Melbourne Regional Chamber of Commerce, AmiKids, and past Chair of Central Florida Public School Board Coalition. Mr. Ziegler was instrumental in paving the way for the Children’s Hunger Project to operate through public schools and continues to serve as an advisor. Mr. Ziegler has been a Board member since January 2019.
Amber Miller, Secretary
Community Member, Term: 2021-2024
Ms. Miller has a Bachelor’s degree in Fine/Studio Arts. Ms. Miller is currently a director of digital learning and development. She has former experience as a Training Specialist at Ford Motor Company, Director of Marketing, Social Media Specialist, and Merchandise Coordinator/Trainer at Walt Disney World. Ms. Miller has been a Board member since November 2019.
Condrado Martinez, Board Member
Community Member, Term: 2021-2022
Mr. Martinez has a BAchelor's degree in Organizational Management with a specialization in Public Administration. Mr. Martinez is currently a financial advisor/mortgage loan originator. He is an experienced and influential businessperson who has a heart for bridging the private sector with schools for the express benefit of young people. Mr. Martinez serves the community as a board member of the Melbourne Regional Chamber of Commerce. Vice President of Tied Together, a board member of Brevard Citizens for Better Schools, and a specialized mentor for at risk youth. Mr. Martinez has been a board member since December 2020.
The Board of Directors oversees business decisions, future planning for the school, and adherence to the school’s mission and vision. Regular meetings are normally held four times per fiscal year at 9:15 a.m. in the Odyssey Charter School conference room. Special meetings may be scheduled as needed by the Board within 24 hours notice. All meetings are open to the public and abide by Florida Sunshine Law.
Individuals or groups wishing to address the Board at any meeting should arrive prior to the meeting and sign-up on the Public Comment form. Public comment will be limited to three minutes. Concerns will not be addressed at the Board meeting. All concerns will be addressed in writing in a timely manner.
